Your mother was right, start the day with a healthy breakfast.

We’ve all been told throughout our lives that eating breakfast is the best way to start your day.  Studies show that eating breakfast helps you to avoid overeating later in the day, gives you the energy, and sets you up for making sound food decisions all day.

Some of the most healthy choices that experts recommend we start our day with include; oatmeal, Greek yogurt, eggs, fruits such as blueberries, raspberries, cantaloupe and grapefruit, cereal that is high in fiber and low in sugar, whole wheat bread, and perhaps a surprising choice – coffee, which contains antioxidants that some researchers believe are responsible for health benefits.

According to a 2005 poll of 1,000 American adults by ABC News, when asked what they eat for breakfast, the most popular answer was cold cereal.  Hot cereal, toast, fruit, and bacon and eggs were also popular choices.  When asked what was their “all-time favorite breakfast” ABC received a wide variety of interesting answers including cold pizza, four to five cups of coffee, Cap’n Crunch Cereal, liver and grits, and a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

When we dine in restaurants we tend to make different choices.  Many people want to enjoy a meal that they usually don’t make at home, rather than ordering cold cereal or oatmeal.  When you go out for breakfast in Denver, what are some of your favorite choices?  Do you prefer pancakes over waffles?  Do you enjoy a hearty breakfast like biscuits and gravy?  Or is an omelette your favorite breakfast meal?  Whatever choice you make, you can’t go wrong with breakfast.
