National Burger Day!

National Hamburger Day is celebrated each year on May 28.  It is a day to honor an all-American classic sandwich, the hamburger.  While the hamburger derives its name from the German town of Hamburg, there is no question that it is an American culinary icon.

There is a fair amount of controversy over who actually invented the hamburger and many people have taken credit for it fro Charles “Hamburger Charlie” Nagreen, a vendor at the Seymour Fair in Wisconsin in 1885 to Louis Lassen at Louis’ Lunch in New Haven Connecticut in 1900. But Americans have been gobbling them up for well over a century. We consume over 50 billion burgers every year.

At Gunther Toody’s we love our burgers too, serving 13 different types of burgers from our ode to Colorado the Green Chili Burger, smothered in our homemade green chili, topped with grated Cheddar, grilled onions and fresh jalapenos, to our famous Howdy Doody BBQ Burger served with spicy BBQ sauce, Cheddar cheese, two strips of bacon, tomato, pickles and grilled onions.

In honor of National Hamburger Day we are offering $2 OFF any of our delicious burgers when you LIKE US and CHECK In to Gunther Toody’s. Just show your server you social media love for us and we will give you burger love in return!
